The Southeastern Jurisdiction Association of Directors of Lay Speaking Ministries will further the kingdom of God by promoting Lay Speaking Ministries in the conferences of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church.   This shall be accomplished through the following activities:

1.      Meet periodically to review and discuss programs.

2.      Act as an advocacy group before the General Board of Discipleship (GBOD) of The United Methodist Church.

3.      Offer assistance to Lay Speaking Ministries programs within the member conferences of the SEJ and throughout the connection.

4.      Offer training assistance to Lay Speaking Ministries programs within the member conferences of the SEJ.

5.      Offer specific training concepts for Lay Speaking Ministries and guidance in the interpretation of existing GBOD training materials based on the collective experiences of member conferences that have used the material.

6.      Provide certification training for conference and district directors of LSM.

7.      Serve as an information exchange regarding ministries advocated by LSM.

8.      To promote a spirit of cooperative ministry among clergy and LSM.
