	Conferences of the Southeastern Jurisdiction	Lay Speaking Ministries provides training for laity of the United Methodist Church to equip them to be leaders in mission and ministry in the local church and community. Each of us is gifted by the Holy Spirit to be a servant in God's kingdom. Lay Speaking Ministries helps us discover our gift or gifts through educational opportunities that will enhance our gifts and build our skills to enable us to be effective leaders in our church. Through Lay Speaking Ministries, we can become better disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Helen Edwards, conference director for the Alabama-West Florida conference was elected president. Betty Jo Forkner, conference director of the Tennessee conference was elected vice-president. Mary Williams, district director of the Atlanta-Roswell district in the North Georgia conference was elected secretary. Dianne Holland, district director of the Columbia district of the Tennessee conference was elected treasurer at the 2010 gathering in Montgomery, AL and will continue to serve in that capacity. Michael Cheatham, conference director of the South Carolina is the immediate past president and will serve as chair of the executive committee.
